 A permanent art gallery displaying the works of famous artist and painter Stefan Norblin, the paintings of whom are a cherished treasure at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, is being set up to exhibit the culture of that country.
In turn, the art and paintings of Marwar will find a permanent display in Thorn city of Poland in an art gallery proposed to be set up there. With this cultural exchange, Poland is retracing the roots that flourished long back with the patronage of Jodhpur royals in the '40s.
In a recent meeting between the Divisional Commissioner of Jodhpur R K Jain and Polish ambassador in India Piotr Klodkowaski, both the sides agreed in principal to proceed with strengthening the cultural bond between Poland and Jodhpur.
"The deliberations will mark a beginning of sharing of rich cultural heritages between Poland and Jodhpur specially, thereby further rediscovering the relations between the two," said Jain.
He said that the proposals have already been submitted to the concerned departments of state and central government besides the embassies and are awaiting permission. Relation between Poland and Jodhpur dates back to 1939, when a famous artist and painter Stefan Norblin came to Jodhpur and became court painter of the then ruler, Umaid Singh. |
