Postpaid mobile services were restored in the remaining areas of Jammu and Kashmir this afternoon. Now, all the cellular Postpaid services are functioning normally in the valley. The move comes close on the heels of the government's decision to lift restrictions on the movement of tourists in the valley.

The valley has nearly 66 lakh mobile subscribers. Partial landline telephony resumed in the valley on 17th August and by 4th September all landlines were made functional. Here is a report from our Sri Nagar correspondent Tariq Rather:-

"With the restoration of post paid mobile services of BSNL and other private telecom service providers, lakhs of subscribers will have now connectivity in Kashmir Valley. In addition, tourists will be able to visit the Valley without being handicapped by the lack of phone connectivity and students, businessmen, transporters and contractors will have connectivity to attend to their normal life activities. However, millions of subscribers are awaiting restoration of pre-paid mobile connections besides internet services through mobile, broadband and lease line in valley. Tariq Rather, AIR News, Srinagar."

Meanwhile, the police and security forces deployed in the region are taking all precautionary measures in view of the restoration of mobile services. According to Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh, all precautions will be taken to ensure that law and order is not disturbed in the Valley. National Security Advisor,NSA,  Ajit Doval has said, Pakistan is under a lot of pressure at the Financial Action Task Force to rein in terror groups operating from its soil. The meeting of FATF, which is  an inter-governmental body to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system, is currently under way in Paris. He said the biggest pressure on Pakistan comes from the functionaries of the FATF. Mr. Doval was addressing the National Investigation Agency's  national conference of Chiefs of Anti-Terrorism Squad and Special Task Force in Delhi today.

Mr Doval said, no country can afford to go for a war in the present context as the financial and human costs are huge. The NSA added that Pakistan has been using terrorism as the instrument of state policy and everyone knows the neighboring country supports and finances terror. He said, terrorism is a low cost sustainable option which bleeds the enemy more than war.

Actually one of biggest pressure that has come on Pakistan today is because of the FATF, I guess. And FATF has created so much of pressure on them that probably no other action could have been. If you could collect the information, the correct information, sustainable information, quotable information which can be put up on the international forum effectively. Everybody knows that Pakistan is supporting terrorism, Pakistan financing terrorism, but point is that in these forums it is the evidence that is important.

Speaking on the occasion, NIA IG Alok Mittal said, there have been continuous efforts from across the border to revive terror activities in Punjab.

The United States has said that Pakistan must prevent terrorist groups from operating on its soil and prosecute top Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives along with its leader Hafiz Saeed. The statement comes ahead of the Financial Action Task Force, FATF's crucial decision on whether to blacklist the country.

Alice Wells, head of the US state department's South and Central Asian bureau, welcomed the arrest of the top four leaders of Lashkar-e-Taiba /Jamaat-ud-Dawah. Pakistan's law enforcement agencies on Thursday arrested the top four leaders on charges of terrorism financing.
