New Coronavirus cases, deaths reported around world

In Vietnam, the  Health Ministry reported an additional seven Coronavirus cases taking the Southeast Asian country's tally to 141, though it reported no deaths.

Vietnam had said in mid-February that all its then-16 confirmed Corona virus cases had recovered, but it has since been battling an influx of imported cases from overseas citizens and Vietnamese citizens escaping outbreaks elsewhere. There are 1,596 suspected cases in the country, it said, and 24,311 tests have been carried out in Vietnam.

In Spain, an ambulances carrying sick pensioners stoned by some youngsters who tried to prevent ambulances from transferring 28 elderly Corona virus patients to a residence in their town in southern Spain yesterday. The incident occurred as the virus death toll soared to 3,434 in the country, overtaking China, with elderly people bearing the brunt of the outbreak. The protest occurred when a convoy of ambulances tried to enter La Linea de Concepcion, an impoverished city in Andalusia which flanks Gibraltar.  
   
In United States, the number of confirmed cases of the new Corona virus reached 60,115 yesterday while 827 people had died.
A tracker run by Johns Hopkins University showed 600 deaths around 24 hours earlier. The US has the third highest number of confirmed cases behind China and Italy, and the US death rate is now 1.38 per cent, based on reported cases.The true number of infected is believed to be far higher, meaning the real death rate would be lower.
   
France has registered 1,331 deaths in hospital from the new Coronavirus till yesterday, a jump of 231 from the day before. Health official Jerome Salomon said that a total of 11,539 people have been hospitalized with the virus.

U S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Group of Seven foreign ministers agreed with him in talks yesterday that China was waging a disinformation campaign about the Coronavirus pandemic.
The top diplomats from the major industrialized nations held a previously scheduled meeting by video conference, with the United States scrapping a meeting in Pittsburgh as the contagion fears restrict international travel. Mr Pompeo, who has earlier criticized Beijing over what he calls the Wuhan virus, said he was united with other ministers -- from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.

Russia announced death of two elderly patients in Moscow after testing positive for Corona virus yesterday. Moscow City Health Department said in a statement, adding that they were suffering from pneumonia and other complications. Russia has not confirmed any deaths directly due to Coronavirus and it was not immediately clear whether these deaths would be counted in its tally.

Saudi Arabia sealed off the capital Riyadh and two of Islam's holiest cities and extended curfew hours as it reported its second death from the new coronavirus since yesterday. The kingdom barred entry and exit from Riyadh as well as Mecca and Medina and prohibited movement between all provinces, the official Saudi Press Agency reported, as the Health Ministry said the total number of infections spiked to 900.

Five more Corona cases were confirmed in Bangladesh today taking the total number of infected people to 44. Death toll stands at 5. Road transport shut down from today. Railways, flight and waterways have already been shut. Shutdown of road and other public transport has started today.
