NHRC notice to Delhi govt over children struggling to reach school by crossing Yamuna

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued a notice to the Delhi Government over reports that some children have to cross the Yamuna river by boat every day to attend a school.

Taking suo moto cognizance of media reports, the commission has issued notice to Chief Secretary of Delhi and sought a detailed report within four weeks.

The commission observed that if the contents of the news report is true then it raise serious issue of violation of human rights. 

According to media report, Chilla Khadar village in Delhi does not have a school due to which the children have to cross the Yamuna river by boat every day putting their lives to immense danger to attend a school.
