Tamil Nadu celebrates Pongal, first day of Tai month with traditional fervor

In Tamil Nadu, Pongal, the first day of Tai month, was celebrated with traditional fervor all over the State today. Though many parts of the State experienced moderate rains today traditions were followed promptly.
Welcoming the spring season alongwith the people of the State, BJP President J P Nadda told that it was a happy occasion to be in Tamil Nadu to take part in the festival. Speaking at another function in Chennai, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Country is on a path to development. He also assured that the future of Tamilnadu will be in the safe hands of the BJP. He said that the teachings of Tiruvalluvar the ancient Tamil poet had reached all over the world.
Meanwhile, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagawat who is also in the State participated in the Pongal celebrations in Chennai quoted a couplet from Tiruvalluvar which says the wound which has been burnt in by fire may heal but a wound burnt by the tongue shall seldom heal.
Former President of the Congress and Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi who is on a visit to Madurai to witness Jallikattu said that it was interesting to learn the culture, history and the sports of the Tamils.
The second day of Pongal is to thank the bullocks for their contribution in agriculture.
