Five Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh

Five Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh today. The exchange of fire took place in Narayanpur district of Bastar division. AIR correspondent reports that security forces received a specific input that large number of Maoists are present in the Orcha area of Narayanpur district.

On the basis of this intelligence input, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and District Police Force launched a massive search operation in the forests of Aboojhmaad. Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on the team of security forces near Dhurbeda. Jawans retaliated the fire. In this gun battle, five Maoists were killed. Police recovered the bodies of killed Maoists. Two DRG personnel also sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire. The injured jawans are being sent to the hospital for treatment.
